Trip 1: Measuring, and a Name

I think i should count by the number of trips vs the amount of days...

For my very first intentional trip to my desert property I decided to measure as much as I can and take more pictures and videos.

Side note: I had noticed a lot of butterflies lately (in real life, on objects), and turns out butterflies symbolize change/transformation. So, I felt it fitting to name the property, Le Papillion, butterfly in French.

What is it that I wanted to measure?

  • perimeter of desired fence

  • the structure itself

  • rooms inside the structure

I booked a hotel room, grabbed a measuring wheel, and headed down!

Of course, it was hot as hell. I did not prepare well enough to be out there for more than a few hours. I showed up with an iced coffee and no lunch (eyeroll). H

owever, I concqured and did what I showed up to do.

By the end of the trip I got the following data:

  • Fence perimeter: 180'x108'

  • I counted 30 poles on half of the perimeter

  • poles are about 5 feet tall, approximately 10 feet apart (not consistent, but whatever)

  • I was able to measure the structure, but it's not square - too hard to describe, here's picture of it:

I came home with a lot of information and a big imagination...

Stay tuned for the next trip!
